In recent months, the FDA has begun to explore ways to lower the risk of side effects and promote better hair. Some studies have shown that a lower dose of the drug, such as 50 mg, can be an effective way to prevent hair loss.
“The FDA is concerned that Propecia may increase the risk of prostate cancer and breast cancer,” said Dr. Susan E. Krasinski, a urologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
